Clubbing: Computer Science Club
Posted on: September 30, 2009
The Computer Science Club (CS Club) strives to represent UC Davis computer science students. As an official student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), members are interested in the design and use of software/hardware, the history of computers, and the theory and application of modern computing.
The club acts to promote knowledge of and interest in the computer sciences and operates as a liaison between computer science students and professors, clubs (like LUGOD and IEEE) and some corporations. The club also works to provide a forum for the exchange of information between members.
The CS Club also maintains the Computer Science Museum in the Kemper Hall lobby in an effort to help preserve the history of computing. Focusing primarily on personal computers, the museum contains computing artifacts from years past.
Club activities include a programming contest, an end-of-the-year reception, guest speakers, and volunteering in the department's Computer Science Instructional Facility (CSIF) to assist students with minor computer program problems.
