Steven Velinsky Receives DOE Technology Transfer Award

The Department of Energy honored UC Davis professor Steven Velisky with a Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer. Velinsky received this award for his contribution to the development of the Fuel Cell Mobile Light, and his innovative efforts to achieve the goals of the Department of Energy through technology transfer from academia to the marketplace.

A professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC Davis, Steven Velinsky serves as co-director of the Advanced Highway Maintenance and Construction Technology Research Center. Velinsky received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1977 and went on to receive his masters and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in mechanical engineering and theoretical and applied mechanics, respectively.

The Department of Energy strives to promote technology transfer as an effort to combat the national security, energy, and environmental challenges that society faces today. The Federal Laboratory Consortium Awards honor experts, like Steven Velinsky, who focus on the rapid integration of research and development resources within mainstream U.S. economy.
