Posted on: November 26, 2012

Barbara Linke, an assistant professor with the UC Davis Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, received one of seven awards for the 2013 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Since 1980 the Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award recognizes manufacturing engineers, age 35 years or younger, whose exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the manufacturing industry merit the award.

Barbara Linke’s research interests include sustainable manufacturing, grinding technology, and life-cycle management of abrasive tools. Her work is just beginning, “I feel excited about this prestigious award and am deeply honored," said Linke. "I am very happy that I can continue and expand my research at UC Davis." Her growing reputation as a proponent of sustainable manufacturing processes adds to the College of Engineering’s emphasis on sustainable technology.
